Mary Kay Makeup Headshot Session

 In HeadshotPros, Headshots

I recently had the opportunity to take headshots for a Mary Kay training session. This included an on-location setup where the directors at the event first taught the participants about the product and instructed them on makeup application.  Following the class, each participant had the chance to get a professional headshot to use for their business and social media such as Facebook and LinkedIn. Many of these women (like a lot of my clients) had never had a professional headshot before and were a little nervous about getting in front of the camera. However, we had a great time and got fantastic shots of everyone.

I had a very small area to set up in (down a sort of dark hallway) but was prepared with everything needed to make the event a success.  My headshot kit includes on-site lighting, backdrops, and even a mirror for the set so clients can do a last minute hair and makeup check.

One nice thing about the tight hallway (where there was barely enough room for the backdrop and pro lighting) was that each client had a more private session and I could coach them individually to bring out their most confident look and best features. I was able to really address some of the concerns and insecurities that we each have about our own looks to capture an image each woman could be proud of.  I really enjoy coaching my clients while they are in front of the camera as a headshot is so much more than just a picture of your head!

During and after each session, I went through the images right on site with each client so they could pick the one they loved for professional editing. Then, all the final images were delivered in an online gallery.

Here are headshots of some of the Mary Kay Directors at the event:

And a few of the participants – didn’t they do a great job?

This was such a fun event and we’re so glad that HeadshotProsAZ could be a part of it!
